Overview

The Boating Director is responsible for overseeing, leading, planning and implementing the Boating department. The Boating Director supervises up to 10 Boating Specialists as well as teaches Boating classes for campers in large and small group settings. The Boating Director leads and lives with a cabin of up to 7 campers.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Boating Specialists.
  • Provide instruction, supervision and safety of all campers in program area and cabins.
  • Observer Boating classes and provide constructive feedback.
  • Make sure Boating lesson plans are turned in on a timely manner.
  • Approve all lesson plans and curriculum for boating activities and confirm they are age-appropriate and meet the standard.
  • Provide instruction, supervision and safety of all campers and staff in the program area.
  • Submit written performance evaluations of staff twice a summer.
  • Ensure adequate supplies and resources are available.
  • Assist campers with achieving their goals.
  • Assist with Trading Post.
  • Assist with tractor rides.
  • Supervise and participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day which includes but is not limited to; camper check-in and check-out; mealtimes; activities; and before/after-hours duties as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in Ad Staff and All Staff Training.

Qualifications

  • Must be 20 years of age or older.
  • Previous camp experience or experience working with groups of children is preferred.
  • Ability to lead and instruct a group of staff and campers in the Boating program.
  • Have knowledge in safety, care of equipment, inventory, skill instruction, and progressive age-appropriate programming.
  • Be able to identify age and grade level characteristics of campers.
  • Training will be provided during Administration Staff Training and All Staff Training.

Posted Salary Range

USD $210.00 - USD $490.00 /Wk.
