Youth Basketball Coordinator - Gloucester

The Basketball Coordinator is responsible for supervising and coordinating the Gloucester County YMCA recreational leagues, competitive leagues, and skills clinics. This includes marketing to participants, recruiting coaches, and following all YMCA of the Pines best practices for youth leagues.

• Coordinate the delivery of 3 recreational basketball leagues each year.
• Recruit and retain volunteer coaches for each team in the recreational leagues. The goal of each team having 2 volunteer coaches
• Ensure all YMCA of the Pines safety guidelines are followed during program delivery.
• Ensure ail program space is reserved and ready for games and practices.
• Provide consistent communication to all program participants, including weekly league emails.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel & bend (including on the ground) for long periods of time.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
• Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight and hike or paddle for long hours at a time in potentially severe weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency

• The ability to supervise and lead groups of participants
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Possess leadership skills that can assist in encouraging and motivating participants
• Must show enthusiasm, dedication, responsibility and maturity
• Have the ability to interact and communicate clearly with participants, parents/guardians and staff
• Necessary training will be provided.
• Must have a clear criminal background check and safe driving record.
