Overview

The Assistant Program Director helps oversee daily camp programming, supports Activity Directors, and ensures smooth operations behind the scenes. This position will work with the Activity Directors to maintain high quality of programming, create and lead age-appropriate activities, and enhance the camper experience.

Responsibilities

  • Observe Activity Directors to ensure programming meets camp standards.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to enhance activity delivery and camper engagement.
  • Serve as a resource to Activity Directors, helping to develop and refine age-appropriate activities.
  • Assist the Program Director in the following: traveler of the week coin distribution, track and update traveler of the week points and leaderboard, collect and distribute lesson plan materials and supplies, and mid-summer evaluations.
  • Supervise and participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day, which includes but is not limited to camper check-in and check-out, meal times, special events, morning announcements, etc.
  • Attend and participate in two weeks of Leadership Staff Training and General Staff Training.

Qualifications

  • Must be 20 years or older.
  • Have knowledge in the daily operations of camp programs, including staff and camper supervision.
  • Knowledge in safety, care of requipment and supplies, inventory, skill instructions, and progressive age-appropriate programming is required.
  • Ability to teach songs, crafts, games, stories, sports, and related skills is preferred. 
  • Must show enthusiasm. dedication, responsibility, and maturity and can interact and communicate clearly with campers, parents, and staff.
  • Bachelors of the Arts or Bachelor of Science in Recreation, Physical Education, Education, or related fields is preferred (or working towards the degree).
