Overview

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Facility Services Attendant is responsible for creating and maintaining a clean, safe, welcoming, and well-maintained YMCA environment. This position supports the daily operation of the branch through custodial services, basic facility maintenance, event and program setup, facility rental support, and exceptional member service. Working primarily evenings and weekends, the Facility Services Attendant helps ensure the branch is clean, operationally ready, and prepared to deliver outstanding experience for every member, participant, guest, and community partner.

 

Responsibilities

Facility Cleanliness & Housekeeping

  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming YMCA facility.
  • Clean and disinfect all wellness areas, locker rooms, restrooms, studios, and common areas.
  • Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal cleaning assignments.
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, scrub, dust, sanitize, and polish assigned areas.
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles.
  • Restock restrooms and cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain custodial closets and storage areas.

Facility Maintenance

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
  • Replace light bulbs, batteries, ceiling tiles, and air filters.
  • Conduct routine facility checks and report maintenance concerns.
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance and exterior appearance.
  • Help maintain equipment and facility spaces in safe operating condition.

Program, Event & Rental Support

  • Prepare rooms and activity spaces for YMCA programs, meetings, rentals, and special events.
  • Set up and break down tables, chairs, equipment, and room layouts.
  • Ensure rental spaces are clean and ready before events.
  • Support branch-wide events and fundraising activities.

Member Experience & Customer Service

  • Greet members and guests professionally.
  • Respond promptly to member questions and concerns.
  • Build positive relationships with members, participants, volunteers, and staff.
  • Model YMCA Core Values in every interaction.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Maintain compliance with YMCA policies and risk management standards.
  • Identify and report safety hazards.
  • Complete required safety trainings and incident reports in a timely manner.

Branch Operations Support

  • Collaborate with staff across departments to support daily branch readiness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve facility appearance and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

An employee or volunteer’s failure to cooperate with an investigation will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment or dismissal from the organization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous custodial, housekeeping, hospitality, facilities, or maintenance experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of facility maintenance and custodial equipment is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work throughout the YMCA including but not limited to: wellness areas, locker rooms, gymnasium, studios, pool area, and outdoor areas.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Safely operate custodial equipment and cleaning products.
  • Work varied hours, primarily evenings and weekends.

Posted Salary Range

USD $16.00 - USD $19.00 /Hr.
